Is this really our last ride together?

Check out the post over at just for a day: last ride together...nice track...and as usual a nice write-up.

Who is it they remind me of? Can't put my finger on it...

What the Auk?

It's interesting to note the sounds being bounced around today...and speaking of...discovered the Guillemots recently and they're kind enough to post a number of songs on their site.

They range from this small treasure, one of those songs that reminds of me a lost moment...a small tear...

The Guillemots - Cold Cool Moon

to the instrumental...

The Guillemots - The Evil Duck (an elegy)

Same band, you ask? Yes, it is.

Let's go back around again, shall we?

The Guillemots - If the World Ends (xFM session)

Something about these guys grips me...maybe it's cause he can really sing.

The recipe for eliciting an emotional response in me? Take The Tindersticks, add The Housemartins and, well, there you go.

Here, this'll cement it for you:

The Guillemots - Sea Out (demo)

And there's more for your downloading pleasure.

Very Strange...

Apparently, Bryan Harvey, the ex-singer/guitarist for the House of Freaks was found along with his wife and two kids slain in their burning home. Very strange and sad.

The House of Freaks were a great band, wish I had their CD's in front of me, I'd post a few tracks.... I saw them live quite a few times when I lived in Los Angeles in my college days, they actually played on campus a few times. They were a power-house live, a tornado of sound - especially considering they were a two piece, drums and guitar/vocals.

you can listen to some samples over at RhinoHandmade...

UPDATE:
There Stands The Glass has a posting of one of their songs, Lonely. A great choice.
