Latin Playboys : RIP

Seems like any future releases of by the Latin Playboys are very unlikely...seeing as how Los Lobos have taken a turn towards that direction with their latest release (this is a good thing!). The Latin Playboys were an off-shoot from Los Lobos, and released two incredible albums of very emotionally tainted and experimental music, very different from the Los Lobos catalog most people are familiar with.

IF you enjoy these two songs at all, I highly recommend buying either of the Latin Playboy releases, you won't be disapointed. But regardless, after listening to these two tracks, I can't wait to hear "The Town and The City" in its entirety. Good stuff!

Los Lobos - Hold On
Los Lobos - The Valley

re-realized or documented?

Here's another re-release I'm excited about...and it's a long overdue one as well. Josef K were one of Scotland's musical sons from the 80's...along with Orange Juice they hold an important key to a sound not a lot of people are familiar with.

Joseph K - It's Kinda Funny

Joseph K - Sorry For Laughing

Domino Records is responsible for this long overdue collection. Thank them for it and buy it!

Hook'd

Take a listen to this and see if anything sounds familiar...

Loto - Cuckoo Plan

Hear it? Yup...Peter Hook's playing away on that track as a guest musician. Nice to hear something new he's involved with. And it's a pretty catchy song too.

Check out Loto's web domiciles.

I'm the King of the City!

I have this folder on my desktop of music links and possible posts for gJp. Sometimes things get left in there for awhile and I can't remember how or why they got there:

King City - Chicken in a China Shop

How fun is that?

and this is even better:

King City - El Toro

Life is beginning to make sense!

Head over to King City for TONS more music...

..education..

One of the best things about the web in relation to music is the sharing of info and knowledge about bands...case in point...Rich Kids.

I'd heard of them and knew that Glen Matlock, the first bassist for the Sex Pistols, was a member (founder?)...but check out who's singing and playing guitar:

That's right...it's Midge Ure...later to go on to Visage and Ultravox. Something tells me I had heard this a long time ago...oh well.

Found via the ever prolific Boing Boing...
